Counsellor Vacancy Open at St. Stephen’s College, Delhi University

Delhi, November 6, 2025: St. Stephen’s College, University of Delhi, has invited applications for the post of Counsellor on a contractual basis. Eligible candidates may apply by sending their application via email : pstoprincipal@ststephens.edu on or before November 12, 2025, with the name of the post clearly mentioned in the subject line. The college reserves the right to reject any application without providing a reason.


The college has announced one vacancy for the position under the Unreserved (UR) category. The appointed candidate will receive a salary of ₹35,400 plus Dearness Allowance, as per applicable rules.


Eligibility Requirements:


Applicants must possess one of the following:


A Master’s degree in Psychology, Social Work, Education, Counselling, Child Development, or Special Education

OR


A Bachelor’s degree in any discipline along with a Diploma in Guidance and Counselling from a recognized institution


In addition, candidates must have a minimum of five years of experience as a Counsellor.


Roles and Responsibilities:

The Counsellor will be responsible for providing emotional and psychological support to students. Key duties include:


Engaging with students to understand personal, emotional, or academic concerns and helping them set practical goals


Identifying individual support needs and conducting group counselling sessions


Mediating during conflict situations when required


Assisting students in managing stress and anxiety, and teaching effective coping strategies


Evaluating issues, preparing treatment plans, and exploring solutions


Supporting students struggling with self-harm tendencies


Maintaining confidential and accurate documentation of student interactions and progress


Referring students to medical professionals when necessary
