Chennai, January 27, 2025: The Commission for Catechesis in the Archdiocese of Madras-Mylapore organized the much-anticipated Catechism Children’s Jubilee 2025 on January 26 at the Santhome Higher Secondary School in Chennai. Held under the theme "I Am a Star of Hope," this vibrant celebration gathered an impressive 3,459 children, 548 catechism teachers, clergy, and volunteers for a day filled with faith, fun, and fellowship.
The event, which was held in the school's auditorium, kicked off with an energizing warm-up and sing-along session led by Bro. Sathiya. Following this, Fr. Peter Thumma EV, Vice Chairperson of the CCJ, delivered an inspiring keynote address. The program continued with the playing of India’s national anthem and a media session led by Fr. Satish Paul SDB.
The inaugural ceremony of the event was marked by a grand procession, during which the Archbishop of Madras-Mylapore, Most Rev. George Antonysamy, symbolically passed the Jubilee Pilgrim Cross to the Coordinator of the Tamil Nadu Biblical Catechetical and Liturgical Centre (TNBCLC). This was followed by the celebration of the Holy Eucharist. The Archbishop presided over the celebration, which was marked by liturgical animation from Fr. Wilson and a moving choir led by Fr. Joshua. A touching moment followed as the archbishop blessed exam students, crosses, rosaries, and Bibles before engaging in an insightful Q&A session with children representing 12 different vicariates.
The afternoon continued with an array of exciting activities. Children showcased their creativity in an extempore musical show, participated in a talent expo, and enjoyed a unique gospel magic performance by Ms. Jennifer. In a poignant moment, students, divided by grade, entered the auditorium in a solemn procession, emphasizing their devotion to the Cross, Rosary, and Bible.
The atmosphere then shifted to praise and worship, led by the dynamic YU4C group, followed by an inspiring motivational talk by Mrs. Pauline Rose titled “Glory of God, Children Active and Alive.” The event culminated in a heartwarming resolution from the catechism children, followed by a lively prize distribution ceremony. Fr. Raymond delivered a heartfelt vote of thanks before participants joined in a celebratory dance, accompanied by the Papal Anthem.
This extraordinary day, which brought together participants from 96 parishes and saw the collaboration of 24 dedicated committees, was a resounding success. The Catechism Children’s Jubilee not only nurtured spiritual growth but also fostered a strong sense of community among the children, their mentors, and all those involved in this unforgettable celebration of faith.
