Archdiocese of Bombay Engages Youth with “High-Five with Jesus” for Jubilee Year 2025

Mumbai, February 6 , 2025: The Diocesan Youth Centre (DYC) of the Archdiocese of Bombay has launched a series of events under the banner “High-Five with Jesus” to celebrate the Jubilee Year 2025. Led by Deacon Ivan Fernandes, these initiatives aim to deepen young people's faith and foster greater engagement in the Church.

Prayerathon: A Spiritual Marathon

Kicking off the celebrations, the Bandra deanery hosted the first Prayerathon on January 19 at Mount Mary Basilica. Inspired by Isaiah’s words, “You shall run and not be weary,” this event combines an athletic run with moments of prayer. Participants dedicated their journey to praying for unity and peace, gathering at designated locations across the deaneries.

Rocklamation: Gospel Music and Catechesis

On February 1, St. Francis Xavier Church in Vile Parle welcomed over 2,000 young people for Rocklamation, an evening of catechesis, adoration, and Gospel music. Renowned choreographer Terence Lewis shared his faith journey, while Dr. Jarvis led a Gospel music concert. The event culminated in a deeply moving Eucharistic adoration, where the youth sang and danced in faith before falling into silent reverence before the Blessed Sacrament.

8.25 FM: Digital Evangelization by Youth

Recognising the power of digital media, the Archdiocese launched 8.25 FM, a social media series where 25 young evangelists will share short, eight-minute reflections on faith throughout the year. The name reflects Pope Francis’ call for brief yet impactful preaching, with “25” signifying the Jubilee Year and “FM” standing for “faith matters.”

HEart: Faith Through Art

At the parish level, the HEart initiative invites young people to encounter Christ through art and sacred imagery. “Jesus teaches the art of the heart,” said Deacon Fernandes, explaining how beauty in scripture, sculpture, and aesthetics can bring the Gospel to life.

CIAO: Honoring Carlo Acutis Through Service

Inspired by Blessed Carlo Acutis, CIAO (Carlo Inspired Action Outreach) encourages young Catholics to recognise Christ in society’s marginalized. Participants will engage in parish and deanery-level outreach programs, living out Acutis’ devotion to the Eucharist through acts of service.

Through these five unique initiatives, the Archdiocese of Bombay is ensuring that the Jubilee Year 2025 is not just a celebration but a transformative journey for young Catholics, strengthening their faith and commitment to Christ.
