Archbishop Peter Machado’s Visit Brings Renewal and Joy to Resurrection Church, Bengaluru

BENGALURU, 12 March 2025 – Archbishop Peter Machado of Bangalore urged the faithful to "serve with love and work towards a selfless and united Christ-centred community" during his pastoral visit to Resurrection Church, Indiranagar, on 8 and 9 March.

His message of hope and unity resonated deeply with parishioners as he encouraged them to deepen their faith and serve others with compassion and love. Parish Priest Fr. Balraj and Assistant Parish Priest Fr. Terry Prakash Xavier expressed their heartfelt gratitude, calling the visit a moment of grace for the entire community.

Spending Time with the Elderly and the Sick

The Archbishop comforted and encouraged parishioners, embracing the elderly and sick with fatherly warmth. A particularly moving moment was his visit to a 114-year-old parishioner, a living testament to faith and perseverance.

Recognising the Mission of St. Michael’s Convent

At St. Michael’s Convent, the Archbishop met with deserted newborn babies and unwed mothers, acknowledging the sisters’ compassionate mission of care. His presence reassured them of God’s love and the Church’s unwavering support, leaving a lasting impact on those he encountered.

Inspiring the Youth to Achieve Greater Heights

A particularly meaningful interaction took place when the Archbishop met with the youth of the parish. Taking time to listen to their aspirations, challenges, and dreams, he urged them to strive for excellence—not just for personal success but for the greater good of the Church and society. The visit with the youth culminated in a prayerful Rosary, creating a powerful moment of spiritual connection and reflection.

Encouraging Parish Associations and Migrant Families

His Grace also met with parish associations, encouraging them in their charitable work and reaffirming the importance of selfless service. Addressing members of the St. Vincent de Paul Society and their adopted families, he reminded them that their acts of kindness and generosity reflected Christ’s love in action. The Archbishop also spent time with migrant families, assuring them of the Church’s support and emphasising that they are valued members of the parish community.

Guidance for Parish Leadership

The visit also brought guidance and support to the Parish Pastoral Council and Finance Committee, as the Archbishop offered words of wisdom to strengthen their mission of building a more united and faith-filled community.

Archbishop Machado’s pastoral visit left parishioners uplifted, strengthened in their faith, and inspired to carry forward the mission of Christ with renewed commitment and love.
