Altar Servers’ Jubilee Draws 500 Participants in Tiruchirappalli Diocese

Trichy, July 23, 2025 — The Altar Servers Jubilee Meet 2025 brought together over 500 altar servers from across the Diocese of Tiruchirappalli for a day of faith, fellowship, and formation at St. Mary’s Cathedral on Sunday, 20 July. Organised by the Commission for Christian Life, the event was held under the leadership of Most Rev. Dr. Savarimuthu Arokiaraj, Bishop of Tiruchirappalli.

The gathering featured catechetical singing, a procession of uniformed altar servers with band music, and a solemn Jubilee Mass presided over by Bishop Arokiaraj and concelebrated by diocesan clergy. Each altar server received a blessed Jubilee cross as a symbol of their dedication to liturgical service.

The programme also included an inspiring message from Rev. Fr. Albert, Rector of the Basilica of the Holy Redeemer, and separate vocation talks for boys and girls led by Fr. Susai Alangaram and Srs. Jessy and Jayakodi. A mime on the Last Supper, performed by altar servers from 16 parishes, drew appreciation from the audience. Additional encouragement was offered by Fr. Ambrose (Director, Pastoral Centre) and Fr. Susairaj (Parish Priest, Avur).

A total of 510 altar servers and 71 animators from 42 parishes across four vicariates took part in the event, which concluded with the distribution of gifts and refreshments. The Jubilee Meet affirmed the essential contribution of altar servers in the life of the Church.
