Women’s Cell from St Jude’s Church in Bangalore Uplifts Cottolengo Children with Kindness

RT Nagar, Bangalore 25 March, 2025 – As part of St Jude’s Church’s Jubilee Year celebrations, members of the Women’s Cell visited the Cottolengo Sisters, in Bangalore on 9 March 2025, bringing joy to children with physical and mental challenges.

The visit featured a day spent interacting with the children through games and activities. Volunteers from St. Jude’s Women’s Cell experienced firsthand the resilience and joy of the children, despite the challenges they face. To make the day even more special, the group sponsored a meal for the children and presented each child with a small gift, which was met with bright smiles and expressions of gratitude.

The Cottolengo Sisters shared their mission and the legacy of their founder, Saint Joseph Cottolengo, who dedicated his life to serving the sick, poor, and abandoned. The Sisters currently run a school that provides education and support to 65 children and offer in-house care to 24 girls, addressing their emotional, physical, and educational needs. Additionally, they operate a physiotherapy centre that serves both the children and the local community.

“This visit was a powerful reminder of the importance of kindness, service, and gratitude,” said a member of St. Jude’s Women’s Cell. “The selfless dedication of the Cottolengo Sisters and the children’s unwavering joy, despite their challenges, left us deeply moved and inspired. As part of the Jubilee Year of St Jude’s Church, this outreach has only strengthened our commitment to serving others in the spirit of compassion.”

By reaching out to the children at Cottolengo, St Jude’s Women’s Cell not only brought them joy but also reinforced the power of simple acts of kindness. Their initiative aligns with St Jude’s Church’s Jubilee Year mission—encouraging love, compassion, and service within the community.
