Bengaluru, February 11, 2025 – The feast of Our Lady of Lourdes was celebrated with deep devotion at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Whitefield, Bengaluru, on February 11, marking the World Day of the Sick. The event saw a large gathering of devotees, who participated in Masses, a solemn procession, and special blessings for the sick.
The celebrations began with morning Masses at 7:00 a.m., 8:15 a.m., and 9:30 a.m. The highlight of the day was the Thanksgiving Mass at St. Theresa’s Novitiate in the evening. The Mass was followed by the blessing of the decorated Mother Mary’s Chariot, leading to a grand procession towards the church.
On arrival at the church, the Blessing of the Sick took place with the statue of Our Lady of Lourdes and holy water brought from Lourdes, France. The observance of the World Day of the Sick was marked with prayers for healing and strength.
The celebrations continued with a short Eucharistic Adoration, Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament, and the ceremonial lowering of the Novena Flag at the grotto. Devotees also received special blessings with the Holy Rosary from the priests. As a gesture of community spirit and togetherness, food was served to all devotees.
The parish priest, Msgr. S. Jayanathan, along with his team of clergy, faithful, and assistants, meticulously organised and oversaw the feast celebrations. The feast of Our Lady of Lourdes remains a significant event for the Catholic community, drawing believers from across the city to seek spiritual blessings and healing.
