Gurgaon, July 14, 2025: In a heartfelt and emotional farewell ceremony, the Indian Catholic Youth Movement (ICYM) of the Archdiocese of Delhi bid goodbye to its outgoing executive committee during a vibrant gathering held at St. Michael’s School, Gurgaon. Around 200 youth leaders from various parishes came together for the special occasion, which also marked the conclusion of a three-day leadership training programme.
The farewell was marked by gratitude, memories, and inspiration. A special video presentation highlighted the journey, contributions, and achievements of each outgoing leader, drawing emotional responses and rounds of applause from the participants. Their dedicated service over the past years has been publicly acknowledged and celebrated.
Fr. Maria Antony, the Archdiocesan Executive Secretary to the Youth Commission, commended the outgoing DEXCO members for their committed leadership and tireless efforts in guiding the youth of the archdiocese through faith-based initiatives and community engagement. “They have been role models of service, dedication, and Gospel-rooted leadership,” he said.
Adding grace and dignity to the occasion, Rev. Dr. Stephen Alathara, the Deputy Secretary General of the CCBI, honoured the outgoing leaders by presenting them with certificates and mementos as a token of appreciation. “The Church in India is proud of your witness. Your service has not gone unnoticed,” he said during his address to the gathering.
The concluding day of the programme was also marked by the installation of the new Archdiocesan Executive Committee members. The solemn oath-taking ceremony took place during the Eucharistic celebration presided over by Rev. Dr. Alathara. In his homily, he encouraged the new leaders to be “disciples of hope and builders of communion,” calling them to serve with humility and enthusiasm.
The three-day training programme included sessions on leadership, Church teachings, communication skills, and youth ministry. Workshops and group activities gave participants an opportunity to reflect, learn, and strengthen their commitment to serving the Church and society.
The event concluded with a renewed sense of mission among the youth leaders, as they promised to walk together in faith, service, and fellowship carrying forward the ICYM spirit in the Archdiocese of Delhi.
