CHIKMAGALUR, Karnataka, July 16, 2025— The Diocese of Chikmagalur held its tri-monthly Evaluation and Review Meeting for all diocesan pastoral commissions on July 15, 2025, at Spoorthi Sadana, the Diocesan Pastoral Centre, in Chikmagalur. The event brought together 40 secretaries and joint secretaries of various commissions of the diocese to evaluate pastoral activities undertaken between April and June 2025 and to strengthen the Church’s mission going forward.
The meeting commenced with a prayer, invoking the blessings of the Almighty on the gathering. Bp. Dr. T. Anthony Swamy, Bishop of Chikmagalur, presided over the meeting. In his opening address, he shared several pastoral insights and words of encouragement that deeply inspired all the attendees.
Rev. Fr. David Prakash, Diocesan Coordinator for Commissions, skilfully led the proceedings of the meeting with clarity and focus, ensuring the gathering remained aligned with its objectives.
Representatives from each pastoral commission presented detailed reports, outlining their respective initiatives and programmes carried out over the previous three months. These presentations demonstrated a strong commitment to evangelisation, social outreach, and community development, rooted in Gospel values.
Representatives of the various commissions held constructive discussions after the reports were presented. They offered feedback and proposed suggestions to improve each commission’s functioning. This open exchange fostered collaboration and shared learning among the participants.
Special appreciation was extended to Rev. Fr. Charles Pereira, Chancellor and Procurator of the Diocese, whose presence and words of wisdom provided additional inspiration and guidance to the secretaries and joint secretaries of various commissions in attendance.
The meeting reaffirmed the Diocese’s dedication to ecclesial accountability, transparent leadership, and pastoral growth. It helped in fostering unity among the various commissions of the diocese and advancing the Church’s mission to serve the People of God in the Diocese of Chikmagalur more effectively.
The next tri-monthly meeting for all Pastoral Commissions of the diocese is scheduled for the second week of November and will include a comprehensive review of the past term, alongside strategic planning for the coming two years.
