Goa, January 23, 2026:
Nitya Seva Niketan, Rivona, marked 50 years of dedicated service on January 23 as the Society of the Helpers of Mary celebrated its golden jubilee of ministry in Goa. The occasion also coincided with the 50th anniversary of religious profession of Sr. Rukmini Cardozo SHM.
Archbishop Filipe Neri Cardinal Ferrão, Archbishop of Goa and Daman, presided over the solemn Eucharistic celebration, joined by several priests from the archdiocese and religious congregations.
In his homily, Cardinal Ferrão described the jubilee as a moment of gratitude and renewal, reflecting on five decades of faithful service rendered by the Helpers of Mary in Rivona. Referring to the congregation’s motto, “Live for Love,” he highlighted the Sisters’ commitment to compassionate service, especially among children, the elderly, youth, and families. He invited the community to renew their dedication to humble service, forgiveness, and mercy.
Sr. Leena Nazareth SHM, Superior of Nitya Seva Niketan, proposed the vote of thanks.
The celebration continued with a cultural programme featuring performances by parishioners and children of Bal Nivas. Cardinal Ferrão and other benefactors were felicitated on the occasion. Sr. Annie Fernandes SHM, Superior General, expressed gratitude for the mission’s 50-year journey and paid tribute to the pioneer Sisters, while also congratulating Sr. Rukmini Cardozo on her golden jubilee of consecrated life.
Established in Rivona in 1976, Nitya Seva Niketan has grown into a centre of pastoral and social outreach. Over the years, its ministries have included child care, education, women empowerment, health services, and support for the elderly and migrants, continuing its mission of faith-filled service to the people of Goa.
