Dibrugarh, June 25, 2025: Little Flower Higher Secondary School, Dibrugarh, managed by the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians (FMA), celebrated the feast of its patron saint, St. Maria Domenica Mazzarello, and inaugurated its newly constructed auditorium on June 24, 2025. Nearly 200 guests attended the celebration, including priests, religious sisters from various congregations, teachers, alumni, and students from nearby hostels.
The celebration commenced with Sr. Mabel Gothorp FMA, Provincial Superior of the FMA congregation's Guwahati province, formally inaugurating the school's new auditorium by cutting the ceremonial ribbon. Bp. Albert Hemrom, Bishop of the Diocese of Dibrugarh, then blessed the hall by reciting a prayer and sprinkling it with holy water.
The celebration continued with a solemn Eucharistic Mass in the new auditorium, presided over by Bp. Hemrom. In his homily, Bishop Hemrom highlighted the humility and unwavering faith of St. Mazzarello, describing her as an example of how God uplifts the humble and helps them achieve great things.
"Through her, God co-founded the Salesian congregation alongside St. John Bosco,” Bishop Hemrom said. He also commended the Salesian sisters for their dedicated mission work in the Northeast, especially within the Diocese of Dibrugarh.
Following the Mass, a vibrant cultural programme was held in the auditorium. Students took the stage to celebrate the diverse traditions of Northeast India through energetic performances, including traditional dances like Assam’s Bihu and Arunachali folk styles, as well as lively routines set to Bollywood numbers.
Addressing the gathering, Sr. Mabel FMA encouraged the students to utilise the stage at the newly inaugurated auditorium to express their creativity and talents. Other dignitaries, including Sr. Elsy Vayalil FMA, Superior of the community, and Sr. Nelia Khrasi FMA, the school’s Principal, also addressed the gathering, emphasising the significance of the new auditorium as a space for growth, unity and celebration.
The evening concluded with a sumptuous dinner in honour of St. Maria Domenica Mazzarello, leaving all participants with joyful memories.
