Pune, 4 May, 2025 - Major General Lisamma P.V. has taken over as the Additional Director General of the Indian Military Nursing Service (IMNS), becoming the highest-ranking officer within the corps. Her appointment represents a significant milestone in a distinguished career that began in 1986.
Originally from the Nellipally Babu Mahal family in Punalur, Major General Lisamma brings a wealth of experience to her new role. Over the years, she has held several pivotal positions within the IMNS. Her leadership roles have included Vice Principal and Principal at the College of Nursing in both Pune and Bangalore. She also served as Principal Matron at the Army Research and Referral Hospital in New Delhi, one of the Armed Forces' most prestigious medical institutions.
Her service has earned her numerous honours, including the Chief of Army Staff Commendation Card, in recognition of her dedication and excellence.
An alumna of Assumption College, Changanassery, Major General Lisamma also hails from the Plamthoppil family in Nalukody.
She is married to Advocate Babu John, a practising lawyer and Central Government Notary. The couple have two children: Prince John Babu and Advocate Priya Maria Babu. Their daughter-in-law, Dr Ritu Rachel George, is a medical professional.
