Lucknow's Youth Leaders Set to Make an Impact

Lucknow, July 8, 2024: The Navintha Pastoral Centre in Lucknow buzzed with energy from July 6 to 7 as the Lucknow Diocesan Youth Commission and the Indian Catholic Youth Movement hosted their annual Training of Trainers (TOT). Over 110 Parish Executive Members (PEXCO) who are in charge of guiding the youth in their communities gathered to sharpen their leadership skills and deepen their faith.

Led by Fr. Vijay Crasta from St. Francis Inter College, Nigoah, the TOT program was more than just a series of workshops - it was a dynamic exploration of real-life challenges faced by youth leaders today. Fr. Vijay's sessions were praised for their practicality and innovation and offered fresh perspectives to enhance youth ministry across parishes.

"Leadership is about service," emphasized Fr. Dominic Pinto, Diocesan Youth Director, as he encouraged young leaders to embody humility and compassion. He inspired attendees to develop positive attitudes, build strong teams, and treat others with respect, emphasizing that they are role models who lead by example.

Aryan Lawrance, President of the Lucknow Diocesan Youth, rallied fellow youth to shape the future of their ministry. "Together, we can create a vibrant and inclusive space," he stated. "Let's harness our talents to bring everyone together, making a lasting impact that defines our diocese," he continued, igniting a sense of purpose and unity among his peers.

Ms. Ritika David, Diocesan Youth Secretary, underscored the potential of young leaders to drive positive change. "Our youth are poised to lead with faith and conviction," she affirmed, motivating attendees to serve their communities with passion and dedication.

The event celebrated diversity through cultural performances, highlighted by Mr. Nikhil Tirkey, Diocesan Youth Event Coordinator. "The cultural showcases united us, showing our strength in diversity," he observed, emphasizing the event's inclusive spirit.

The TOT sparked vital discussions about the future of youth ministry including inclusivity and awareness of issues like LGBTQ rights and comprehensive sex education among youth. These discussions aimed to equip youth leaders with knowledge and empathy to address these sensitive topics within their communities.

As Mr. Ajay Dominic, Youth Advisor, echoed Saint Teresa of Calcutta's call to "Spread love wherever you go," the room brimmed with optimism and solidarity. The future of youth leadership in Lucknow's Diocese shines brightly, with young leaders ready to lead with compassion, humility, and unwavering faith.
