Jamshedpur, October 20, 2025 — The Jamshedpur Diocesan Youth Convention 2025 is taking place at St Antony Academy School, Pokhari, Bhilai Pahar, from 18 to 22 October. The convention has drawn hundreds of young participants from parishes across the diocese for days of faith, fellowship, and formation.
In his message to the youth, Bishop Telesphore Bilung SVD of Jamshedpur encouraged them to face life’s challenges with courage and to rely on God’s grace in witnessing the Gospel in today’s world.
The convention is being coordinated by Fr Sheetal Lakra, Diocesan Youth Director; Fr Cornelius Tigga, Assistant Youth Director; Fr Christopher SVD; and a dedicated team of diocesan youth leaders.
Among the speakers was Shilpa Ekka, youth leader and activist from the Diocese of Rourkela, Odisha, who urged the young participants to “dream big and work hard” while cultivating education, skills, and values to contribute meaningfully to society. Addressing the youth, she said, “We often say that the youth are the future of the Church. But today, I want to remind you that you are not just the future; you are the present — the living Church of today, called to lead, to serve, and to transform society with the love of Christ.”
The convention features a rich schedule of talks, cultural programmes, and sessions of prayer and faith sharing, providing a vibrant space for young Catholics to grow in leadership, community, and mission.
