Udupi, Sept. 11: A youth interaction programme was held on Sunday, September 7, at the Anugraha Pastoral Centre in Kakkunje, Udupi, where IRS Officer Mishal Queenie D’Costa motivated students to pursue careers in government service. The event, jointly organised by the Youth Commission and the Education & Social Communication Commission of Udupi Diocese, aimed to encourage youth to prepare for competitive examinations with determination.
Addressing the gathering, Officer Mishal, who currently serves as Deputy Director at the National Customs Targeting Centre, Mumbai, under the Ministry of Finance, emphasised that success is achievable when one faces challenges with perseverance and hard work. She urged students from Udupi and Dakshina Kannada districts to overcome misconceptions about government exams being too difficult and to make effective use of available resources.
Adding inspiration to the session, Shreyans Gomes from Udupi, who secured an All-India Rank of 372 in the UPSC 2024 examination, shared his preparation strategies and the hurdles he overcame during his journey.
The programme was presided over by Bishop Gerald Issac Lobo, Bishop of Udupi Diocese. In his address, he encouraged the youth to dream of serving the nation through government service and assured continued diocesan support for aspirants.
Eminent clergy members present during the function included Diocesan Chancellor Fr. Steven D’Souza, Fr. Wilson D’Souza, and Fr. Ashwin Aranha. Diocesan Education Commission Director Fr. Vincent Crasta welcomed the gathering, Diocesan P.R.O. Fr. Denis D’Sa introduced the guests, and Youth Commission Director Fr. Steven Fernandes led the opening prayer. The event was compered by Mr. Leslie Aroza, who also proposed the vote of thanks.
