India, September 11, 2025 – Young Catholic Students/Young Students Movement (YCS/YSM) India organised a condolence meet on September 10 to honour the memory and pray for the departed soul of the late Fr. Vincent Monteiro, former National and Asian Chaplain of the International Young Catholic Students (IYCS), who passed away on 29 August 2025. The gathering brought together current and former YCS members, ranging from unit-level participants to international leaders, all of whom were inspired by Fr. Vincent’s guidance, presence, and unwavering support.
During the meet, several speakers shared personal reflections on Fr. Vincent’s life and work. Ms. Te Ah See from Malaysia, who served as the lay Chaplain during his tenure, highlighted his commitment to fostering youth leadership. Ms. Meenuka Nirmalin Mathew, former Asian Coordinator, spoke of her close collaboration with Fr. Vincent and his vision for the continent-wide movement. Ms. Amica Frank, a Nexco member from a parish where Fr. Vincent served as Parish Priest, recounted his pastoral care and encouragement.
Mr. Manoj Mathew, member of the advisory board, reflected on his experiences working alongside him, while Fr. Michael Deeb OP, the former international Chaplain shared insights on Fr. Vincent’s global impact. The final reflection was delivered by Fr. Chetan Machado, National Chaplain of YCS/YSM India, who personally witnessed Fr. Vincent’s love, care, and guidance throughout his life.
The meet served as a heartfelt tribute to a leader whose legacy continues to inspire the YCS/YSM community across India and beyond. His unwavering dedication to youth formation and pastoral guidance remains a beacon for future generations of leaders.
