Wadi, Dec 22, 2025: Churches in Gulbarga came together to organise a prayerful and peaceful Christmas procession marking the Birth of Jesus Christ and the closing of the Jubilee Year 2025 under the theme “Pilgrims of Hope.” The inter-denominational celebration was jointly organised by St. Ann Catholic Church, Wadi, along with the Churches of Shahabad, Chittapur and Sedam, the Methodist Church, Wadi, and the Independent Church, Wadi.
Bishop Robert Miranda delivered the Christmas message, urging the faithful to live as pilgrims of hope through unity, compassion and service while Pastors George, Christopher and Sudheer shared Gospel-based reflections. The celebration reflected the Jubilee spirit through themes of hope, justice, peace and care for the vulnerable.
The procession commenced at the Methodist Church, Wadi, with the participation of a large number of the faithful. Fr. Joseph Praveen, Dean of Gulbarga Deanery, proclaimed the Gospel on the Magnificat, also known as the Song of Hope. Led by Fr. Vincent Pereira, Parish Priest of Queen of Heaven Church, Chittapur, the procession proceeded towards St. Ambrose High School, Wadi, as participants carried the Cross, flags and a tableau of the Holy Family, accompanied by hymns and carols.
As part of a Jubilee Act of Charity, gifts were distributed to selected widows, highlighting the Church’s concern for the vulnerable. The celebration concluded with joint Christmas carol singing and cultural presentations, reinforcing the spirit of Christian unity and harmony.
