Adoni, 8 April 2025: Over 1,500 faithful gathered at Infant Jesus Church, Adoni, in the Diocese of Kurnool, Andhra Pradesh on 7 April for a spiritually enriching Lenten Mission. The event served as a moment of deep reflection and renewal for participants as they journeyed through the Lenten season.
Fr. Kola Vijayraj, Priest and Dean of Adoni Deanery underscored the significance of prayer meetings during Lent and invited the faithful to enter more deeply into the season’s spirit of penance, prayer, and preparation.
The highlight of the mission was the address by Bishop Gorantla Johannes of Kurnool Catholic Diocese. His reflection on the passion, death, and resurrection of Christ captivated the congregation. Bishop Johannes encouraged participants to meditate on Christ’s sacrifices and to draw strength from the hope of the resurrection.
“The Lenten season is a time not only for personal penance but also for rediscovering the power of community and shared faith,” Bishop Johannes said. His message struck a chord with the faithful, inspiring many to renew their spiritual commitments.
Joining the event were Fr. Chinnappa, Fr. Ravi Chandrapaul, Fr. Babu OFM, and the parish sisters, all of whom played active roles in guiding the faithful throughout the evening.
Also present was Fr. Pappula Sudhakar, Director of Amruthavani Communications Centre, Secunderabad, Telangana.
The mission concluded with a collective prayer, fostering a deep sense of unity and spiritual encouragement among those present. The event left the community uplifted, spiritually nourished, and eager to carry the message of Lent into their daily lives.
