India Peace Centre, Nagpur Hosts 50-Day Interfaith Training Programme

Nagpur, Maharashtra, February 1, 2025: The India Peace Centre (IPC), Nagpur has launched the School of Peace (SOP), a 50-day interfaith training program focused on cultural exchange, traditions, and faith practices. The program, organized by the Asia-Pacific Alliance of YMCAs (APAY), commenced on January 27, 2025, and will continue until March 16, 2025. Participants from Indonesia, the Philippines, East Timor, Nepal, and India are taking part in this transformative initiative.


The India Peace Centre (IPC) is an inter-religious center for justice and peace initiatives of the National Council of Churches in India, based in Nagpur in the western Indian state of Maharashtra.


On the day of the program’s launch, Angelious Michael, Director of the India Peace Centre, extended a warm welcome to participants, facilitators, and APAY staff, wishing them a productive and impactful experience throughout the program. Asir Ebenezer, Chairperson of IPC, and Tejinder Singh Rawal, IPC Treasurer, also offered their greetings to the participants.


A distinguished team of facilitators from the Philippines, Indonesia, and Germany is leading the program. Notable figures include Muriel Montenegro, Coordinator of the Interfaith Cooperation Forum (ICF) of APAY, along with ICF staff members Annika Denkmann and Baidido Saganding. Margareta Tabitha Andoea is also contributing to the facilitation of the program, with additional participants expected to join over the coming weeks.


The School of Peace is a flagship initiative of APAY, held annually in different countries to encourage interfaith dialogue, promote cultural understanding, and support peacebuilding efforts across the Asia-Pacific region. By hosting this year’s program, the India Peace Centre underscores its long-standing commitment to advancing justice and peace initiatives, not only in India but across South and Southeast Asia.
