Sancoale, Goa, April 30, 2025: The Holy Family Convent in Sancoale, run by the Congregation of the Sisters of the Holy Family of Nazareth, hosted a special Workers' Day celebration on April 30—one day ahead of the traditional May 1 observance. The event was organised to honour the convent’s dedicated support staff and to express heartfelt appreciation for their invaluable contributions to the mission and daily life of the institution.
The event began with a prayer service, setting a tone of reflection and gratitude, followed by an address from Superior General Sr. Berna Rodrigues. In her speech, Sr. Rodrigues acknowledged the vital role played by the workers in the Congregation’s mission, thanking them for their unwavering service and commitment. Her words echoed a deep sense of appreciation, reinforcing the essential role of the workers in the Congregation’s mission.
A unique feature of the programme was the opportunity given to workers to introduce themselves. This initiative empowered the staff, encouraging self-confidence and reinforcing their valued place within the Congregation. The moment was both personal and powerful, reflecting the inclusive ethos of the community.
Another highlight was a devotional gathering at the bust of the founder of the congregation, where workers offered prayers of petition through his intercession. This act of devotion strengthened their faith, drawing inspiration from his legacy of compassion and service.
The celebration continued with engaging games that promoted camaraderie and joy, complemented by refreshments. Prizes were awarded to game winners, and all support staff received tokens of appreciation, symbolising the Congregation’s enduring gratitude.
The sisters who work alongside the staff in their respective departments also participated in the celebration, fostering a spirit of unity and shared mission. The programme concluded with a meal and warm farewells, as the workers left with renewed encouragement and cherished memories.
This gathering served not only as a celebration but as a meaningful sign of communion, participation, and the collective dedication to a life of faith and humble service.
