Panaji, Goa, June 12, 2025: “Hearts of Hope”, a Night Vigil of Reparation to the Sacred Heart of Jesus through the Immaculate Heart of Mary, was held across 15 deaneries of the Archdiocese of Goa and Daman on the night of June 6, 2025. Initiated by the World Apostolate of Fatima (WAF) – Goa, the vigil was led by the lay faithful of each deanery, with the guidance and support of the local clergy. Every vigil witnessed enthusiastic participation from all the parishes within the respective deaneries.
Rooted in the theme “Dilexit Nos – He Loved Us”, drawn from late Pope Francis’ final encyclical, the initiative invited the faithful of the archdiocese to reignite devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Responding to the Fatima message and the call for reparation, WAF-Goa embraced this mission in the Jubilee Year of Hope, offering the night in prayer for the salvation of souls.
The event commenced in the late hours of June 6, a First Friday, and seamlessly flowed into the early hours of First Saturday. The vigil featured Eucharistic celebrations, Adoration, people praying Rosaries and offering prayers of reparation. The faithful were united in their intentions—praying for peace in hearts, homes, Goa, India, and the world; for healing from sin; and for the sanctification of priests and families.
The event received strong support from Church leadership. Auxiliary Bishop Simão Purificação Fernandes and Episcopal Vicars Rev. Dr. Henry Falcao and Rev. Dr. Joaquim Fernandes SVD presided over key liturgies in Panjim, Ponda, and Old Goa, respectively.
His Eminence Filipe Neri Cardinal Ferrão, in a message of support, stated:
“This Vigil, born from the hearts of the laity and supported by the clergy and the religious, should be a powerful witness of the living faith within our Archdiocese—a faith that responds with love to the call of Heaven.”
Leaders from several parishes expressed their appreciation for the way the World Apostolate of Fatima–Goa team planned and coordinated the event. Aruna Gomes, Moderator of Colvale and DePC Moderator of Mapusa Deanery, shared, “The Night Vigil was a beautifully enriching experience. The meticulous planning by the team of the WAF–Goa made it easy to implement in our deanery.”
Annie Fernandes, PPC Moderator of Moira (Aldona Deanery), added, “Every moment was Spirit-filled—guided by the Holy Spirit and strengthened by strong pastoral leadership.”
Fr. Mario Leitão Gracias, Parish Priest of Calvim, expressed his gratitude to the team of the World Apostolate of Fatima–Goa for making the Night Vigil a grand success across all the deaneries and invoked the blessings of Mother Mary upon them.
The vigil was brought to life through intercessory prayers, church announcements, social media outreach, WhatsApp campaigns, and grassroots mobilisation—all under the unifying call: “Same Prayers. Same Time. One Heart. Across Goa.”
