Bangalore, 10 May 2025 (CCBI): Fr. Madanu Anthony, a priest of the Diocese of Hyderabad, has been appointed as the Social Apostolate Coordinator of the Conference of Catholic Bishops of India (CCBI). The decision was made during the Executive Committee meeting held in Bangalore on 6 and 7 May 2025.
Born on December 16, 1982, in Mariapuram, Hyderabad, Fr. Anthony is 42 years old. His academic journey is marked by a strong foundation in philosophy, theology, education, and human resources. He holds a B.A. in Philosophy from Andhra University (2004–2007) and completed his theological studies at St. Peter’s Pontifical Seminary, Bangalore (2008–2012). He also earned an M.A. in Sociology from Madras University, a diploma in Counselling, a B.Ed., and most recently, an MBA in Human Resources from Osmania University (2024–2025).
Fr. Anthony began his pastoral ministry in 2012 as Assistant Principal of St. Mary’s High School, Hyderabad. He went on to serve in various parishes including Holy Family Church, Trimulgherry; Holy Trinity Church, Begumpet; and Mount Carmel Church, Bowenpally. From 2018 to 2021, he was the Parish Priest at Sultan Bazar.
Since 2021, he has served as the Executive Director of the Hyderabad Archdiocese Social Service Society, spearheading various community outreach programs.
Apart from parish and social work, Fr. Anthony is known for his dynamic involvement in counselling workshops, Lenten retreats, and recollections for religious communities. He has completed additional training in project proposal writing from Tulip Management and safeguarding policy training by KKID.
He is fluent in Telugu, English, Hindi, and Tamil, bringing a wide linguistic reach to his new role.
