Debunking the "AI Jesus" Confession Claim

The recent news reports sparked widespread curiosity, claiming that a Catholic church in Switzerland had introduced an artificially intelligent "Jesus" to hear confessions.

However, an investigation by Catholic News Agency (CNA) reveals the truth behind this intriguing story.

St. Peter's Chapel in Lucerne, Switzerland, has indeed launched an innovative project in collaboration with the Immersive Realities Research Lab at Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts.

This project explores the use of virtual characters based on generative artificial intelligence in a spiritual context.

The purpose of the project is conversation and not confession!
