Bhalki, July 21, 2025 — The Zonal Basic Ecclesial Communities (BEC) Jubilee of the Gulbarga Diocese was joyfully celebrated at the Infant Jesus Shrine in Bhalki on Sunday, 20th July 2025. The event brought together over 350 faithful from the Bhalki, Humnabad, and Basavakalyan zones for a day of prayer, fellowship, and cultural expression, reflecting the unity and synodal spirit of the Church.
A creative and prayerful presentation of the Word of God, set a deeply spiritual tone for the day. The Holy Eucharist, solemnly presided over by Bishop Robert Miranda of Gulbarga, was the central highlight of the gathering, drawing the faithful into a profound experience of worship and communion.
Fr. Maxim Dias, Regional Secretary of the BEC Commission, delivered the keynote address, offering valuable insights on strengthening and sustaining vibrant BECs. He emphasised their vital role in fostering a synodal Church rooted in communion, participation, and mission.
The programme also featured colourful cultural dances and a thematic skit that joyfully expressed the unity in diversity among the communities. These performances brought to life the values and spirit that BECs strive to embody at the grassroots level.
The presence and support of Fr. Santhosh Bapu, Vicar General, along with Fr. Clary D’Souza and Fr. David Antony, added notable significance to the event.
The Zonal BEC Jubilee stood as a vibrant witness to a Church that listens, journeys together, and remains rooted in the Gospel through the active life of Basic Ecclesial Communities.
