Youth from Four Dioceses of Madhya Pradesh Unite for Carlo Zonal Gathering in Khandwa

Khandwa, Madhya Pradesh, July 8: The Carlo Zonal Youth Gathering was held from July 5 to 6 at the Divodaya Pastoral Centre in Khandwa, Madhya Pradesh. The Carlo zone comprises the dioceses of Khandwa, Jhabua, Udaipur, and Indore in Madhya Pradesh. A total of 67 young participants, 10 priests, and 3 religious sisters from four dioceses took part in the two-day event. Led by diocesan youth directors and local clergy, the program aimed to deepen spiritual growth, raise environmental awareness, and strengthen Christian identity among the youth.

The gathering began on the evening of July 5 with Adoration and the celebration of Holy Mass. After dinner, participants joined in an ice-breaking activity designed to help them get to know one another through informal introductions.

On July 6, the day began with a morning prayer and a solemn Holy Mass celebrated by Rev. Bp. Augustine Madathikunnel, Bishop of Khandwa. During the homily, he offered an inspiring reflection on the life and virtues of Blessed Carlo Acutis, encouraging the youth to follow his example of faith and simplicity.

After the Eucharistic celebration, youth actively participated in a plantation drive as part of the 'Harith Yuwa, Harith Bharat' initiative. Led by the bishop, clergy, and religious, participants planted saplings across the Divodaya Pastoral Centre campus, demonstrating a shared commitment to ecological stewardship.

Fr. Jose George then conducted a session on the topic "Identity in Christ." Through twelve key points, he articulated a deep understanding of Christian identity and its relevance in the life of young believers.

Youth from all four dioceses of the Carlo Zone concluded the afternoon with vibrant cultural performances, showcasing their talent and cultural diversity. Fr. Sible Devassykutty, Diocesan Youth Director of the Khandwa Diocese, wrapped up the gathering with a note of thanksgiving and a final blessing.

Special thanks were extended to Bp. Augustine Madathikunnel (Bishop of Khandwa), Fr. Mahesh Sulya (Director, Carlo Zone, and Diocesan Youth Director of the Indore Diocese), Fr. Sible Devassykutty (Diocesan Youth Director of the Khandwa Diocese), the Diocesan executive committee, and various parish executive committees of the Khandwa Diocese.

The event marked a significant step in uniting and empowering Catholic youth from dioceses falling under the Carlo Zone of the church in Madhya Pradesh.
