YOUCAT India Holds Meeting to Chart Future Course of Action

Goa, February 20, 2025 – The newly formed YOUCAT India team, initiated by the CCBI Commission for Faith Formation, held its first official meeting virtually via Zoom on February 19, 2025. The meeting brought together ten YOUCAT representatives from across India to discuss the team’s vision, objectives, and future initiatives.

Fr. Vijay Machado, Executive Secretary of the Commission for Faith Formation, led the session with an insightful introduction to YOUCAT India. He emphasised the call for all Catholics to be missionaries in their journey of faith. Members of the newly formed YOUCAT India team were officially introduced during the meeting. Team members shared their personal experiences with YOUCAT, fostering a deeper understanding of its impact.

Discussions during the meeting focused on several key objectives for the year, including leveraging digital technology for evangelisation, empowering youth leadership and mentorship, promoting digital evangelisation, providing mentorship, guidance, and support to young people, and facilitating parent-youth leadership initiatives.

The team also resolved to conduct online study sessions throughout the year, collaborate with the Youth Commission for India to expand the YOUCAT ministry, conduct a Training of Trainers (ToT) to strengthen faith formation, and extend its reach to 14 regions and 132 dioceses across the country.

The meeting laid a strong foundation for YOUCAT India’s mission, with members actively engaging in discussions and setting clear goals for the months ahead. The next online meeting is scheduled for March 2025, with the exact date to be announced soon.
