Study on Youth Sheds Light on Night and Digital Culture's Impact

Tirupattur, October 17, 2025: Fr. Nidhin George Kaitharan SDB of the Sacred Heart Province, Bangalore, achieved a historic milestone on October 13 by successfully defending his Ph.D. thesis titled “Youth Nightlife and Wellbeing: An Empirical Study of Youth in South India” at Sacred Heart College, Tirupattur, Tamil Nadu. His pioneering research, involving over 2,400 young participants, stands as one of India’s most extensive studies on youth wellbeing.

Conducted over three years, the study delves into the effects of nightlife and digital culture on the emotional, social, and psychological health of young adults. 

Fr. Nidhin’s academic excellence has been recognised with the Best Research Award (2024) and nine national-international publications indexed in Scopus and Web of Science, earning acclaim at prestigious institutions such as Auxilium Katpadi, VIT University, and Andhra University.

Beyond his scholarly achievements, Fr. Nidhin is a dedicated advocate for mental health, holding a diploma from NIMHANS and actively contributing to youth welfare. His work embodies the Salesian spirit of Don Bosco, empowering youth to flourish.
