Srikakulam, Andhra Pradesh, September 3, 2025: The Diocese of Srikakulam celebrated the 27th Priestly Ordination Anniversary and the 6th Episcopal Ordination Anniversary of Most Rev. Rayarala Vijaya Kumar PIME, Bishop of Srikakulam, with a solemn thanksgiving event at Sahaya Matha Cathedral in Srikakulam on Tuesday, September 2. The celebration brought together priests, religious, and lay faithful from across the diocese to honour the bishop’s pastoral journey and years of dedicated service.
The event began with a session of Eucharistic Adoration, followed by a spiritual reflection delivered by Fr. Inje Paul from the Diocese of Eluru. In his talk, Fr. Inje highlighted the beautiful qualities of a Good Shepherd and the sacredness of God’s call to the priestly vocation.
The highlight of the celebration was the Holy Eucharist, presided over by Bishop Vijaya Kumar. The homily during the Mass was delivered by Most Rev. Udumala Bala, Archbishop of Visakhapatnam. Archbishop Bala spoke warmly about Bishop Vijaya Kumar’s vision and mission for the diocese of Srikakulam. He also commended the bishop’s pastoral zeal, particularly his love and care for the poor, the needy, and the young people entrusted to his care.
After the Eucharistic celebration, the community hosted a felicitation programme to honour Bishop Vijaya Kumar for his unwavering love and dedicated service to the diocesan community. Rev. Thumma Dominic DGM and Rev. Fr. Vijay Reddy, Chancellor of the Srikakulam Diocese, coordinated the ceremony. In his thanksgiving address, Bishop Vijaya Kumar expressed heartfelt gratitude to Archbishop Bala for the words of appreciation he shared during the homily and thanked all clergy, religious, and laity for their prayers and support throughout his ministry.
Vicar Generals Rev. Fr. Balapushparaj and Rev. Fr. Dusi Devaraj led the entire event and ensured a smooth, meaningful celebration through their meticulous planning.
The celebration not only marked a milestone in Bishop Rayarala Vijaya Kumar’s priestly and episcopal journey but also served as a powerful reminder of the enduring bond between him and his flock. As the Diocese of Srikakulam looks to the future, the event reaffirmed its commitment to walking together in faith, service, and love under the guidance of its devoted bishop.
