Vatican City, 14 June 2025 — Amid rapidly worsening tensions between Iran and Israel, Pope Leo XIV has made a renewed and urgent appeal for peace, urging world leaders to act with responsibility and reason.
In a firm statement, the Holy Father stressed that efforts to build a safer world — free from nuclear threats — must be rooted in mutual respect and sincere dialogue. “Lasting peace can only be founded on justice, fraternity, and the common good,” he said. “No one should ever threaten the existence of another.”
The Pope’s call comes as international anxiety grows over the threat of a broader regional conflict. He urged all nations to support peacebuilding by initiating paths of reconciliation and promoting solutions that ensure security and dignity for all.
Reaffirming the Church’s long-standing opposition to nuclear weapons, Pope Leo warned that global security cannot be achieved through threats or force. He insisted that only diplomacy, trust, and cooperation among nations can guarantee a stable and humane future.
“It is the duty of all countries to support the cause of peace,” the Pope declared, calling for a united global effort to defuse hostilities and prevent further escalation.
His words have drawn attention from global leaders and faith communities alike, as the Vatican’s voice continues to advocate for justice, dialogue, and the protection of human dignity in the face of mounting geopolitical instability.
