Parishioners of Holy Spirit Parish, Ambassa, Tripura, Hold Peace Rally in Honour of Pope Francis

AMBASSA, Tripura, May 2, 2025: Parishioners of Holy Spirit Church, Ambassa, held a silent peace rally on April 26 in honour of Pope Francis, coinciding with the day of his burial. The solemn event reflected the community’s deep reverence and affection for the late pontiff.

The rally began at the church premises and proceeded to the local village panchayat office before returning to the parish. Fr. Ivan D’Silva, SVD, the parish priest, led the faithful in prayer before the march commenced.

The march was led primarily by members of the parish pastoral council and the youth and women’s commissions and featured participation from children and other faithful. Participants walked silently, holding portraits of the late pope and pausing intermittently to sing hymns and recite prayers for the repose of his soul.

Upon returning to the church premises, parishioners offered floral tributes and lit candles before a portrait of Pope Francis. The event concluded with a Holy Mass celebrated inside the church, uniting the faithful in prayer and remembrance.

The rally was a heartfelt gesture by the local Catholic community to honour the life and legacy of Pope Francis, known globally for his humility, compassion, and service to humanity.
