New Church Blessed in Belgaum’s Bhosagalli Village

Belgaum, Jan 20, 2026: Marking a significant milestone in the faith journey of the local Catholic community, the village of Bhosagalli, home to just 45 Catholic families, witnessed a historic and grace-filled moment on January 17 with the solemn inauguration and blessing of the newly constructed St. Joseph Church.

What was once a sub-station of Mansapur village in Khanapur Taluk of Belgaum district has now become an independent church. The development, attributed to God’s providence and the perseverance of the faithful, signifies an important step in the spiritual and ecclesial growth of the Bhosagalli community.

The new St. Joseph Church will now function as an independent mission church, standing as a visible sign of God’s abiding presence among His people. For the villagers, the occasion went beyond the inauguration of a physical structure, becoming a joyful celebration of faith, identity, and growth as a faith community.

The solemn Holy Eucharist and inauguration ceremony were presided over by Bishop Derek Fernandes of Belgaum. In his message, the Bishop emphasised that a church becomes truly alive when the faithful gather in unity, prayer, and service, reminding the community that they are called to be living stones of God’s house.

The celebration was attended by priests, religious, distinguished guests, and generous donors whose wholehearted support made the construction of the church possible, reflecting a shared commitment to nurturing faith in the growing mission.

Dedicated to St. Joseph, the humble guardian of the Holy Family, the new church stands as a symbol of trust, obedience, and silent strength. As Bhosagalli enters this new chapter as an independent church, the faithful look ahead with gratitude and hope, confident that the Lord who began this good work will bring it to fulfilment.
