KRLCC General Assembly to Chart Political and Social Direction of Latin Catholics in Kerala

Kerala, Jan 8, 2025: Bringing together Church leadership and lay representatives to chart the social and political direction of the Latin Catholic community, the Kerala Region Latin Catholic Council (KRLCC) will hold its 46th General Assembly on January 10 and 11 at Ashirbhavan in Ernakulam.

Bishop Justin Madathilparambil will deliver the keynote address on the theme, “The Relevance of Collective Initiatives in Community Empowerment,” while the Assembly will also deliberate on decade-long project outlines related to various social, community, and political organisations within the Latin Church.

The Assembly will analyse the outcomes of the recent local self-government elections and deliberate on the political approach the Latin Catholic community should adopt in the forthcoming Legislative Assembly elections. The annual reports of the Council will also be discussed and approved.

The Assembly will be chaired by KRLCC President Archbishop Varghese Chakkalakal. A total of 205 participants, including bishops from the twelve Latin dioceses of Kerala, along with priests, religious, and lay representatives, are expected to take part in the General Assembly.
