Karbi Catholic Youth Movement Convention 2025 in Diphu Diocese Strengthens Faith and Community

Diphu, March 18, 2025: The 3rd Convention of the Karbi Catholic Youth Movement, Jirikindeng Parish (KCYMJP), was successfully held from March 14 to 17, 2025, at Jirikindeng Parish, West Karbi Anglong. The event brought together 88 Catholic youth from various villages under the parish, fostering faith, learning, and community building.


The convention featured distinguished guests and resource persons, including Sir Welson Terang, Assistant Teacher; Fr. Navinson Ingti, Parish Priest; and Fr. Gabriel Sangma, Claretian. Delivering the keynote address, Sr. Irish Teronpi DST spoke on the theme, “Those who hope in the Lord will not grow weary” – Isaiah 40:31.


The event aimed to educate the youth in their native languages and dialects, enabling them to grow in faith while developing essential life skills. The Karbi Catholic Youth Movement (KCYMJP) was formed in 2022 and remains unique to Jirikindeng Parish, which includes two tribal communities – the Karbi and Khasi-Pnar.


Other notable guests included Mr. Deependra Rongpi, President of the Karbi Cultural Society (KCS), Jirikindeng Zone, along with two health professionals from BPHC, Jirikindeng.


The success of the convention was made possible through the efforts of Fr. Jonathan Teron, DYD, the CMC Sisters, the lay faithful of the parish, and various well-wishers who offered their support and generosity. The convention successfully fostered faith, cultural identity, and youth empowerment, leaving a lasting impact on the participants and the parish community.
