Inauguration of the Jubilee Year 2025 in the Diocese of Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh

Bareilly, January 13, 2025: The Diocese of Bareilly marked the commencement of the Jubilee Year 2025 with a grand ceremony filled with grace, renewal, and heartfelt celebration. This significant event brought together believers from all walks of life to reflect on their faith, embrace hope, and strengthen their communal bonds under the theme "Pilgrims of Hope." From all over the diocese, the faithful gathered to witness this solemn event.

Opening Address

The ceremony began with an inspiring address that highlighted the importance of the Jubilee Year. Emphasizing the theme, we were reminded, like the faithful throughout history, we are on a journey together, driven by hope and faith.

Blessing of the Jubilee Cross

Central to the celebration was the blessing of the Jubilee Cross by Most Rev. Ignatius D'Souza, Bishop of Bareilly. This cross, containing the names of all diocesan members, symbolizes unity and the profound significance of Christ's sacrifice, love, and salvation.

Jubilee Holy Spirit Hymn

The congregation then joined in singing the Holy Spirit Hymn, specially composed for the Jubilee Year

2025, filling the atmosphere with a spirit of reverence and devotion.

Scripture Reading

A poignant moment of the ceremony was the reading from the Gospel of John (John 14:1-7), offering comfort and assurance through Christ's promises. This scripture reading reinforced the theme of hope and faith that guided the day's events.

Study of the Bull of Indiction

Participants engaged in a thoughtful study of the Bull of Indiction, titled "Hope Does Not Disappoint." This document from the Holy Father provided insights and teachings that will guide the faithful throughout the Jubilee Year.

Due to heavy rain, the planned procession was canceled. However, participants symbolically honored the Jubilee Cross by forming two lines and reverently approaching it, symbolizing their unity and devotion, while the choir sang hymns of praise.

Blessing and Sprinkling of Holy Water and Holy Mass

The ceremony concluded with the blessing and sprinkling of holy water, a ritual that served as a reminder of the participants' baptism and refreshed their spirits. This was followed by the "Gloria Hymn" and the continuation of the Holy Mass.
