Bengaluru, 27 October 2025 — The Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Karlena Agrahara, B.G. Road, Bengaluru, marked Mission Sunday with great enthusiasm, gratitude, and spiritual fervour. The annual celebration, which holds deep significance for many parishioners, was observed with a renewed sense of faith and commitment to the Church’s divine mission.
Parishioner James Khalkho shared that Mission Sunday continues to be a moment of personal and communal reflection. “This sacred occasion holds a profound place in my life, and each year I strive to offer my best contribution,” he said, expressing his joy in celebrating the day with the congregation.
To support the Church’s mission, Mr Khalkho once again took the initiative to organise fun-filled fundraising games, a tradition he has upheld over the years. The activities were designed to be both enjoyable and purposeful, helping to raise funds for the Church while engaging parish members in a spirit of fellowship.
“This year, I organised three engaging games, and we were able to collect a substantial amount of funds,” he said. He extended heartfelt gratitude to his friends Mr Sanjay Kullu, Mr Cosmos Kerketta, his son Angelo Khalkho, and Angelo’s friends for their enthusiastic participation and wholehearted support. Their collective effort, he added, made the celebration both meaningful and spiritually enriching.
Beyond its festivities, Mission Sunday serves as a reminder of the Church’s deeper purpose. It calls believers to renew their commitment to spreading the message of Christ and to participate actively in the Church’s evangelical mission. “The real mission of the Church is not confined to social work alone,” Mr Khalkho noted, “but lies in the salvation of souls through the proclamation of the ultimate truth.”
For the faithful at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, Mission Sunday was not merely an annual event but a time to reflect on their role as witnesses to Christ’s love. The day reinforced the call to serve with dedication, humility, and compassion.
As the celebrations concluded, parishioners expressed hope that the spirit of Mission Sunday would continue to inspire them throughout the year — to live as true witnesses of faith and to serve the community with the love and commitment exemplified by Christ.
