LMohali, Dec 26, 2025: Against the backdrop of growing global concern over violence and neglect faced by children, Holy Innocents Day was observed at Infant Jesus Convent School, Phase XI, Mohali, with a strong focus on the Church’s responsibility to uphold the dignity and rights of every child. The observance took place under the Chandigarh Deanery of the Chandigarh Diocese.
The commemoration drew attention to the biblical memory of the Holy Innocents—children who lost their lives for Christ—and connected it to present-day realities affecting children worldwide. A special Holy Mass formed the spiritual core of the observance, during which prayers were offered for children impacted by violence, injustice, abortion, trafficking, and neglect.
Reflecting on the Gospel, the celebrant spoke of Jesus’ special love for children and urged the faithful to respond actively by becoming voices for the voiceless and defenders of life. The message resonated with those present, including priests, religious sisters, catechists, parents, and a large gathering of children.
The observance also placed emphasis on pastoral care for families, with special prayers and blessings offered for children, families, and expectant mothers. Moments of joy were woven into the occasion as children participated in games and received gifts, underscoring the value of celebrating and protecting childhood.
Through its focus on prayer, reflection, and participation, the Holy Innocents Day observance in Mohali underscored the Church’s ongoing mission to safeguard children and affirm the sanctity of human life.
