Former MLA of Mangalore Stresses Public Role in Strengthening Civic Administration

Ullal, Mangalore , Nov 5 — The development of the nation is possible only through effective civic services and the active involvement of citizens, said J.R. Lobo, the former MLA of Mangalore.


Lobo emphasised that citizens must make the best use of available civic services and extend cooperation to local administrative bodies.


“If we want to see true progress, people must take responsibility and participate actively in civic matters. Proper utilisation of civic facilities leads to improvement in health, education, and the overall quality of life,” he said.


He further noted that students, youth, and women’s groups have a vital role to play in maintaining cleanliness and protecting the environment. “Every individual’s contribution is important in building good governance,” he added.


Dr. Ashok Kumar addressed the gathering on “Public Participation in Urban Services”, highlighting the need for greater awareness and accountability among citizens.


Discussions during the seminar focused on issues such as waste management, sanitation, water supply, and the importance of transparency in civic administration.


Speakers also stressed the need for citizens to hold officials accountable and work collectively for the welfare of the community.
