Five Resources for Healing and Freedom from Pornography

Pornography is a prevalent issue in today’s society. While the world often normalises it, the Catholic Church teaches that pornography is harmful to human dignity and the sacredness of the sexual act. As St. John Paul II said, "The problem with pornography is not that it shows too much of the person, but that it shows far too little." True love and intimacy require seeing the whole person, not reducing them to an object of desire.

The Catholic Church’s Teaching on Pornography

The Catechism of the Catholic Church (2354) defines pornography as "removing real or simulated sexual acts from the intimacy of the partners in order to display them deliberately to third parties." It is considered a grave offence because it distorts the conjugal act. It also leads individuals into a fantasy world, pulling them away from authentic relationships and true intimacy.

Breaking free from pornography addiction is a challenging journey, but numerous resources are available to support those struggling with the issue. Here are five notable programs and organisations dedicated to helping individuals overcome this struggle:

1. Covenant Eyes

Covenant Eyes provides accountability software and educational materials designed to help individuals combat pornography addiction. Their resource, "The Porn Circuit," delves into the neurological effects of pornography and offers practical tools for breaking free from its grip.
