Kochi, February 12, 2025 - The Jubilee Cross procession, a profound symbol of faith and unity, traversed through the Diocese of Cochin, bringing blessings and spiritual renewal to the faithful. Crafted with Kerala’s rich cultural heritage in mind, the Cross emphasised the theme of Hope and Compassion, while the sacred journey, filled with prayers and devotions, spiritually prepared the faithful for the diocese’s annual retreat.
Pope Francis' historic proclamation of 2025 as the Jubilee Year, themed "Pilgrims of Hope," has ushered in a year of profound spiritual renewal, forgiveness, and reconciliation throughout the Catholic Church. In response, the Diocese of Cochin has organised its annual spiritual retreat, "Vachana Sandhya," with a special theme, "KRIPABHISHEGHAM" (Blessing of Hope), carefully crafted to illuminate the Jubilee Year's message.
The retreat, led by Rev. Fr. Dominic Valanmal, a distinguished spiritual director and preacher, is set to take place from February 12 to 16, 2025, at Aquinas College Ground, Edakochi. This momentous event will feature the Solemn Pontifical Mass celebrated by 5 esteemed Episcopal Ordinaries from diverse dioceses, followed by the Proclamation of the Word of God, Adoration, and Deliverance. Opportunities for the Sacrament of Reconciliation are also available.
Over 40,000 faithful, comprising more than 150 diocesan priests, 500 religious, and individuals from diverse backgrounds, are expected to gather at this extraordinary event. The retreat aims to inspire and rejuvenate the faithful, offering a unique opportunity for profound spiritual growth, healing, and renewal. The Diocese invites all the faithful to participate and embark on a transformative journey of hope and renewal.
