Inaugural Session

The two-day event opened with a prayer dance and the ceremonial lighting of the lamp. Host Bishop Wilfred Moras welcomed the assembly, followed by a documentary on the Diocese of Jhansi highlighting its educational and pastoral mission. Distinguished dignitaries included Gerald J. Mathias, Bishop of Lucknow and President of the Association, Eugene Joseph, Bishop of Varanasi and Vice-President, and Sr. Smitha, Secretary. Sessions were animated by Fr. John Ravi, SJ, a noted educationist.

Sessions and Key Discussions

Fr. Ravi led four interactive sessions on the theme “The Challenges andy Possibilities in the Mission of Education in the Emerging Indian Socio-Political Context.” He stressed the need for stronger leadership among heads of institutions, urging principals and managers to act as visionaries rather than mere administrators. He highlighted the adoption of innovative teaching methods, digital learning, safeguarding child rights, inclusivity, and parental engagement as key priorities. He further encouraged collaboration with like-minded organisations, while insisting that credibility, authenticity, and Catholic ethos remain central in dialogue with state and national education bodies.

General Body Deliberations

The General Body session provided a platform for exchanging experiences and discussing pressing issues. Members expressed concern over regulatory hurdles and rising hostility towards Christian institutions, underscoring the importance of stronger networking and mutual support. Diocesan directors also presented reports on local educational progress, achievements, and challenges.

On the second day, the Business Session turned to administrative matters and strategies. A significant decision was to establish a strengthened Regional Legal Cell to respond to false allegations of forced conversions and to tackle mounting legal and regulatory challenges. Policies were reviewed, with members identifying the need for stronger advocacy and collective engagement with government authorities.

The 38th AGBM concluded with a renewed spirit of dedication and solidarity. Participants reaffirmed their mission to deliver quality education founded on Gospel values, equip institutional leaders for contemporary challenges, and safeguard the Catholic identity of schools and colleges in the region.
