Catechetical Annual Day Celebrated at St. Sebastian Church, Aquem, Goa

AQUEM, Goa, February 17, 2025: St. Sebastian Church, Aquem, celebrated its Catechetical Annual Day on February 16, 2025, with great enthusiasm and devotion. The event, themed "Pilgrims of Hope," brought together students, catechists, parents, and dignitaries for an evening of spiritual and cultural performances.

The evening commenced with a prayer followed by a devotional dance by the students of the Communion class. Guests were warmly welcomed, following which the Book 7 students presented an enactment of the Jubilee theme song, adding depth to the message of hope. Pre-Communion students participated in a fancy dress competition on the Life of Saints, while Books 4 and 5 students showcased a lively fusion dance. A thought-provoking skit based on the event’s theme was performed by Book 6A and 6B students.

Guest speakers, including new catechist Loren and other dignitaries, delivered inspiring messages, emphasising the role of catechesis in strengthening faith.

The celebration also saw parents performing a traditional Dekhni dance, while catechists entertained the audience with a comedy act. An instrumental performance further enriched the event’s cultural vibrancy.

The Annual Report was then presented, which highlighted the year’s activities and achievements. This was followed by the distribution of prizes to recognise students’ efforts.

As a token of appreciation, catechists received Jubilee Mugs as mementoes. Fr. Agnelo Rodrigues, the priest animator, addressed the gathering, expressing gratitude and encouragement.

The celebration was a resounding success, strengthening the faith and unity of the parish community.
