Bhopal Archdiocese Hosts Jubilee of Married Couples

Bhopal, September 29, 2025: The Family, Laity & BEC Commission of the Archdiocese of Bhopal brought together couples from across the Archdiocese for the Jubilee of Married Couples 2025 at the Pastoral Centre, Bhopal, on Sunday. The day-long celebration invited couples to renew their commitment to the sacrament of marriage and celebrate the gift of family life, inspired by Pope Leo XIV’s message to look to the Holy Family of Nazareth — Jesus, Mary, and Joseph — as a model of “silence, work, and prayer.”

The Holy Eucharist was presided over by Archbishop A.A.S. Durairaj of Bhopal. In his homily, he underscored the irreplaceable role of families as “domestic churches,” urging couples to nurture their children in faith and values, and remain steadfast in their vocation. The Mass, filled with gratitude, included a renewal of vows and a deep sense of communion.

Focusing on Christian marriage as a vocation, Mr. T. Jose Kurian spoke on the importance of love, sacrifice, and fidelity. He encouraged couples to “continue witnessing God’s love within their families and society.”

Practical aspects of family spirituality, communication, and mutual understanding were then explored, with daily life examples illustrating how prayer, dialogue, and forgiveness remain the foundation of every Christian home.

Couples were also invited to reflect on their role as “co-builders of the Church and society, demonstrating unity, fidelity, and generosity in their daily lives.”

The celebration also included a felicitation ceremony to honour couples marking their silver and golden wedding anniversaries. Their faithfulness and perseverance were acknowledged as living testimonies of God’s covenant love.

The Jubilee of Married Couples 2025 honoured the journey of married couples and inspired them to deepen their faith and commitment in family life. The Family, Laity & BEC Commission expressed heartfelt gratitude to all resource persons, volunteers, and participants who contributed to the success of the event.
