Udupi, 9 December 2025 — Udupi diocese formally launched its diocesan Think-Tank at the Anugraha Pastoral Centre, signalling a renewed commitment to shared leadership and interdisciplinary collaboration, with Archbishop Peter Machado of Bengaluru present for the inauguration.
“True leadership shines when individuals come together, pooling their gifts for the upliftment of the community,” the Archbishop remarked, highlighting the richness that different professions bring to the Church and society. He affirmed that creating a common platform for reflection and collaboration would foster growth for every member of the community. Commending the groundwork already done by the Diocese of Udupi in forming the Think-Tank, he expressed confidence that the newly formed team would introduce meaningful and transformative initiatives.
Bishop Gerald Isaac Lobo of Udupi, who presided over the programme, noted that leadership is not confined to clergy alone. When laypersons step into leadership roles, he said, initiatives gain deeper relevance and wider societal impact. He extended his best wishes to the newly constituted diocesan Think-Tank office bearers.
In his keynote address, Mr Roy Castelino, President of the Karnataka Regional Think-Tank, outlined the vision, mission, goals and objectives that will guide the group’s work. The ‘Suvichaar’ Think-Tank comprises members representing a wide range of disciplines, including media, medicine, law, education, nursing, agriculture, entrepreneurship, politics, fine arts and theatre.
Fr. Ferdinand Gonsalves delivered the welcome address, while Dr Gerald Pinto, Director of the Laity Commission, proposed the vote of thanks. A prayer service was led by Fr. Vincent Crasta, Secretary of the Education Commission, and the programme was compered by Fr. Denis D’Sa, Public Relations Officer.
