Rosary Church, Pondicherry Youth Movement Leads Successful Blood and Medical Camp on Palm Sunday

Pondicherry Vicariate, 15 April, 2025 - On Palm Sunday, 13 April 2025, Our Lady of Rosary Church, a 160-year-old parish in the Pondicherry Vicariate, organised a Blood Donation and Free Medical Camp. With the support of JIPMER and the Pondicherry Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS), the event marked another milestone for the Rosary Church Youth Movement (RCYM).

The blood donation camp, conducted by JIPMER, saw 48 generous donors step forward. Impressed by the turnout and enthusiasm, the attending JIPMER doctor praised the youth for their dedication and compassion.

Simultaneously, a comprehensive free medical camp was held in collaboration with PIMS and the Earam Education and Rural Development Society. Medical services offered included general medicine, ENT, ophthalmology, paediatrics, surgery, obstetrics, orthopaedics, dermatology, and dentistry. The camp attracted approximately 170 attendees from the local community.

Guided by Fr. Savarimuthu, who joined the parish in June 2024, RCYM has emerged as a dynamic force. Since its formal naming in December 2023, the youth group has undertaken several initiatives including visits to cancer institutes, intergenerational dialogues, psychological awareness sessions, and charity outreach.

Throughout the Palm Sunday event, RCYM volunteers served as the backbone of the operation—managing logistics, guiding patients, and ensuring smooth coordination. Their commitment continues to reflect the vibrant spirit of Our Lady of Rosary Church, home to over 1,000 families and one of the most prominent parishes in the region.
