Vasai, Maharashtra, April 1, 2025 – The Remedy Youth Group of the Shrine of Our Lady of Remedies organised a blood donation camp at St. Elizabeth Convent School, Vasai, on March 30, 2025. The event, held in collaboration with the Society of Saint Vincent De Paul and Nair Blood Bank, aimed to promote blood donation and raise awareness about its life-saving potential.
The camp commenced with a prayer and blessing by Father Eric Alphonso, Parish Priest of the Shrine of Our Lady of Remedies, Vasai. The event was graced by Sr. Smita Agaskar, Daisy Sirvel, and Mr. Morgan Dmello, animators of the Remedy Youth Group, who played a crucial role in coordinating the initiative.
A total of 139 individuals came forward to donate blood, showcasing their commitment to the cause. After a thorough medical screening, 119 donors were deemed eligible, leading to the collection of 119 units of blood. These donations will be instrumental in assisting patients in need of blood transfusions.
The organisers expressed heartfelt gratitude to all the donors for their selfless contributions. They also acknowledged the invaluable support of social organisations that facilitated the initiative, with special appreciation for Nair Blood Bank for ensuring the camp’s success.
This blood donation camp marked a significant step in fostering social responsibility and encouraging community participation in life-saving initiatives. The organisers hope to continue such efforts in the future, strengthening the culture of voluntary blood donation in Vasai.
