Bangalore, June 4, 2025 — The 8th Animators and Chaplains Training Program, organised by the Youth Commission of the Conference of Catholic Bishops of India (CCBI), began on Monday, June 2, at the National Biblical, Catechetical and Liturgical Centre (NBCLC), Bangalore. The two-week national training is designed to equip newly appointed youth directors, animators, and youth leaders with essential theological, pastoral, and leadership skills for effective youth ministry. A total of 45 participants from across India are attending the programme, which will run until June 14.
Rev. Fr. Chetan, Executive Secretary to the CCBI Youth Commission, led the introductory session by welcoming the participants and outlining the core objectives of the training. He emphasised the importance of forming capable leaders who can guide and accompany young people in their faith journey.
The programme was formally inaugurated with a Holy Eucharist celebration presided over by Most Rev. Sathish, Auxiliary Bishop of Bangalore. In his homily, Bishop Sathish urged the participants to “bring people back to God”, noting that many believe in God but remain distant from Him. “As youth directors and animators, your mission is to accompany them back into a living and vibrant relationship with the Divine,” he said.
The training features a comprehensive curriculum covering key areas of youth ministry. Modules include Youth and Psychology, Principles of Youth Ministry, Youth Movements in the Church, Youth and Social Consciousness, Media Awareness, and Vocation, among others. These sessions are being conducted by experienced resource persons from various parts of the country, offering participants both depth and diversity in their formation.
The programme combines liturgical celebrations, personal reflection, and structured teaching sessions, providing a holistic approach to youth formation and leadership development within the Church in India.
