Christian woman in ICU After Brutal Assault in Chattisgarh: Family Appeals for Support

Kondagaon, Chattisgarh, July 19, 2025: In a tragic follow-up to the brutal assault that took place on 15th July in Khohadapara village, Kondagaon district, Smt Shanti Dugga remains in a critical condition and has been shifted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar Memorial Hospital, Raipur.

Shanti Dugga sustained severe head injuries and multiple fractures across her chest and back after she and her daughters were attacked by members of their extended family. Her daughter Lachhin (22) was reportedly gang-raped during the incident, while her other two daughters also suffered physical injuries.

Following initial treatment at the District Hospital in Kondagaon, Shanti Dugga was referred to Raipur due to the seriousness of her condition. According to medical staff and attendants, she is now under intensive care with additional concerns regarding her kidney and liver function.

Simon Digbal Tandi of the Progressive Christian Alliance has renewed appeals for financial aid and support for the family. “This is not only a medical emergency but a humanitarian crisis. Every contribution matters. Let us stand together for justice, healing, and humanity,” he stated.

The shocking nature of the attack has stirred outrage and grief across the community. Rights groups and concerned citizens are calling for swift justice and proper medical and psychological support for the survivors.

The family continues to require urgent financial assistance for medical care, and prayers and solidarity are being requested from all quarters.
