Blessed Carlo Acutis: A Modern Teen Who Brought Faith Online

Blessed Carlo Acutis, remembered as the “first millennial Blessed,” continues to inspire young people with his remarkable blend of ordinary teenage life and extraordinary faith. Born in 1991 in London and raised in Milan, Carlo was beatified in Assisi on 10 October 2020, becoming the first person of his generation to be honoured in this way by the Catholic Church.

Though he enjoyed football, animals, and video games like many of his peers, Carlo’s devotion to Christ shaped every aspect of his short life. His deep love for the Eucharist, which he called his “highway to heaven,” became the driving force behind his projects and daily choices. Using his passion for computers and coding, he designed a website cataloguing Eucharistic miracles across the world, a work that still serves the Church today.

Carlo’s life was cut short when he died from leukaemia at just 15. Yet, even in his final days, he offered his suffering for the Pope and the Church, a testament to his faith and generosity of spirit. When his body was later exhumed, it was found incorrupt and now rests in Assisi, clothed in his familiar jeans and trainers—a striking image of holiness in modern times.

Seven must-know facts about Carlo Acutis:

  • First Millennial Blessed – Recognised by the Church as the first Blessed of his generation.

  • Cyber-Apostle of the Eucharist – Created a website documenting Eucharistic miracles worldwide.

  • Eucharist as His ‘Highway to Heaven’ – Attended daily Mass and Eucharistic Adoration without fail.

  • Ordinary Teenager – Enjoyed football, animals, and video games, while living his faith deeply.

  • Offered His Suffering – Gave his pain to God for the Pope and the Church when diagnosed with leukaemia.

  • Not fully Incorrupt Body – Found his body not fully incorrupt and displayed in Assisi in his everyday clothes.

  • Role Model for Youth – Proves sainthood is possible in modern, everyday life.

For countless young Catholics worldwide, Carlo remains a relatable and inspiring figure, demonstrating that sainthood is not confined to history books or extraordinary circumstances, but is within reach in today’s world.
