Archdiocese of Bhopal Hosts Chrism Mass and Recollection Day for Clergy

Bhopal, April 15, 2025 – The Archdiocese of Bhopal organised a Recollection Day for all diocesan priests on Monday, April 14, 2025, at the Our Lady of Assumption Church in Bhopal. The event aimed to provide spiritual and pastoral enrichment for the clergy.

The day commenced with a spiritually enriching talk by Rev. Fr. Kapil Xaxa SJ, who served as the resource person for the recollection. His discourse focused on the renewal of priestly commitment and the pastoral responsibilities of the clergy. Following a short break, the priests engaged in Holy Adoration and the Sacrament of Reconciliation. This offered them an opportunity for prayer, reflection, and spiritual renewal.

In the evening, a solemn Chrism Mass was celebrated, marking a significant liturgical event in the life of the Archdiocese. Archbishop A.A.S. Durairaj, SVD, presided over the celebration, during which he blessed the three holy oils: the Oil of the Sick, the Oil of Catechumens, and the Sacred Chrism. These oils will be used throughout the year in various sacramental rites across the Archdiocese.

A highlight of the celebration was the renewal of priestly promises by all diocesan clergy present. This act stood as a powerful testament to their dedication and communion with the Church’s mission. The fraternal gathering fostered a profound sense of ecclesial unity among the priests of the Archdiocese.
