Guwahati, 26 March, 2025 – The Archdiocese of Guwahati Youth Commission (AGYC) hosted the 7th Archdiocesan Youth Convention from 20th to 23rd March 2025 at Lumding Parish. Under the theme “Those who hope in the Lord will run and not grow weary” (Isaiah 40:31), the event brought together around 500 young Catholics from across the diocese for four days of spiritual enrichment and leadership development.
Most Rev. John Moolachira, Archbishop of Guwahati, inaugurated the convention on 21st March, setting the tone for a faith-filled gathering. Sr. Jorina N. Marak, Diocesan Youth Director of AGYC, led the initiative with strong support from clergy and youth leaders.
The sessions featured prominent Catholic leaders, including Rev. Fr. Jagdish Parmar SJ, who guided the youth through a thought-provoking session. On 22nd March, Rev. Fr. Carlos Baruwa MSFS, Councilor for Formation of the Dibrugarh Province, engaged participants with an interactive motivational session.
The Northeastern Regional Youth Commission (NERYC) team also played a key role, with Rev. Fr. John Barman MSFS (Regional Youth Director), Sr. Wansuk Lyngdoh MSMHC (Regional Youth Lady Animator), and Mr. Huimingam Jonah Chithung (Regional Youth President) leading an adoration session and inspiring the youth with their words of encouragement.
The convention honoured outstanding youth leaders for their contributions, presenting them with awards. A solemn Holy Mass was celebrated, followed by the ceremonial de-hoisting of the flag, led by Rev. Fr. Joshy, the Parish Priest.
The gathering strengthened the faith and leadership of young Catholics, inspiring them to serve their communities with renewed commitment.
